Live-Aboards and Barefoot Sailing Adventures Live aboard refers to living aboard a boat for some period of time. In the recreational diving industry, unlike day boats, live aboard offers its guests to stay on board for one or more nights. This allows time to travel to more distant divesites. Normally a live aboard operation charters for 10 to 30 passengers. The liveaboard lifestyle has many attractions and many downsides. Boats are much smaller than land-based residences, they are more exposed to weather, and require special maintenance skills. However, they are mobile, closer to nature, and recreation opportunities are built in. Anyone who loves the water should consider living aboard for some length of time.
